Hotel Husa Barcelona Mar
Hotel Husa Barcelona Mar is owned by the Husa group, a family company
that was founded in 1930, they now have 170 hotels all over Spain.
Hotel Husa Barcelona Mar is a small, unassuming, 4 star hotel good
for both tourists and business travelers. The best features are
the hotel’s proximity to the beach which is some 300 metres
away, and the quiet nature of its location. Husa Barcelona
is not the most stylish hotel in the area but it is calm and perfectly
comfortable and has easy access to everything you could need during
your stay in Barcelona.
Hotel Facilities
As
you walk into the hotel the reception is on your left and on the
right is an airy, comfortable lounge. Be sure to have a look at the
rack of mini-cards that will give you discounts on everything from
restaurants to nightclubs. The hotel has its own car park,
although the street is quiet and hotel patrons are free to park
there subject to availability of space. The restaurant is called
La Torre d L´aigua and serves up Mediterranean cuisine every
night. There is also a small swimming pool on the roof, room service
and a laundry service to save you having to search for a dry cleaners.
Plus the Hotel has bathrooms and lifts for the disabled.
Business Facilities
There was a good mix of tourists and businesspeople when I visited
the hotel. However should you be in Barcelona on business then Hotel
Husa Barcelona has 3 conference rooms to offer. They are fully equipped
with internet and telephone lines and can hold from 15 - 50 people
depending on the formation you want.
Rooms
Hotel Husa Barcelona Mar has 75 rooms. Each room has air-conditioning,
a safe, minibar, satellite TV, internet and a hairdryer in the bathroom.
As you would hope in a 4 star hotel, the rooms are of a good size,
you could definitely “swing a cat” in them, and decorated
in neutral hues. The only problem is that the hotel doesn’t
really have very good views (the rooms at the front of the hotel
look out onto a concrete basketball court!) and also none of the
rooms have much natural light. However as you’re so close
to the beach I don’t expect you will be spending much time
in your room.
Hotel Location
The
Hotel is situated in one of Barcelona’s new districts, which
is still in some parts under construction. You are a 20 minute metro
ride away from the centre of Barcelona so if you want to be in the
middle of the sight-seeing and history of the city then this may
not be the place for you. However on the plus side the government
has invested a lot of money into this area so you will have many
facilities you need at your fingertips, and everything from the
parks to the hotels are very modern in design. It’s very close
to many of Barcelona’s beaches, Mar Bella and Platja Nova
and the metro stop, Selva de Mar is a short 10 minute walk away.
Facilities in the location of the hotel
There is a bank with cash point right under the hotel, and several
more just up the street. There is a pharmacy at no. 12 if you are
unlucky enough to have any ailments during your stay (you can buy
almost every medication at the pharmacy). If you get hungry as well,
there is a tempting fresh fruit and veg shop a 3 minute walk away
at number 13-15. Slightly further a field, but still only a 15 minute
walk away is the sprawling Diagonal Mar complex which has everything
from top-class restaurants, small cafes, a supermarket and every
type of shop you could want.
How to travel from the airport to the hotel
Via Taxi A taxi from the airport should take
about 25 minutes and cost around 25 - 30 euros depending on traffic
and luggage.
Via Train The RENFE train leaves the airport every
half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gracia station, in about 20
mins and costs 2.60 Euros for a single ticket. You then have to
change here for the Yellow Line Metro to Selva Del Mar and the hotel is a
short 10 minute walk from the metro.
Via Bus The Aerobus will also take you from the
Airport to Catalunya station and costs 4.05 Euros. The journey time
is around 30 minutes. From Catalunya you have to
change here for the Green Line Metro to Passeig de Gracia and then change onto the yellow line metro. Your nearest
metro stop is Selva Del Mar and the hotel is a
short 10 minute walk from the metro.

In a Nutshell
There is nothing fancy about Hotel Husa, but it’s comfortable
and more personal than some of the ultra-modern establishments in
the area. The easy-access to the beach is a plus point, as is the
roof top swimming pool, if you just don´t want to get sandy.
I think any sort of visitor to Barcelona, who doesn’t mind
being out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre, would be
happy here.
