Review: Hotel Jazz Barcelona
This page will give you a detailed review of Hotel Jazz Barcelona,
facilities, location, directions from the airport along with hotel
reservations links.
You can tell from the façade that this three star hotel
is contemporary and stylish, and this is reinforced as you walk
through the sliding doors into the lobby which has been decorated
in deep and muted colours, and has high ceilings allowing you to
look up to the Jazz Bar above. The staff are pleasant and there
is a small lounge in which to relax.
Jazz Hotel Rooms
The Hotel Jazz has 108 rooms, with air-conditioning, Canal +, internet
connection, safe and minibar. The hotel also has disabled facilities
which is fairly unusual in Barcelona, and private parking. Jazz
is just the theme of the hotel and whilst there is a Jazz bar do
not get confused and think this is a place for live events.
Hotel Jazz Facilities
Hotel Jazz is popular primarily with those who come to Barcelona
on business and are looking for a stylish hotel without the pretentiousness
that you find in some other modern establishments. The business
centre is comprehensive and you are right in the middle of the city
centre.
 |
| Hotel Jazz Terrace with wonderful views of the city |
The conference centre consists of three rooms named Soul, Swing
and Jazz. These rooms can fit from 18 to 80 people depending on
how you want the room set out. They are fully-equipped with modern
audio-visual equipment and necessary connections. There is also
a bar and a café if you need a break from work. Also if you
need to use a computer then there are several at your disposal,
next to the piano bar on the first floor.
Despite its business side the hotel is also fully equipped for
those in Barcelona on holiday. Hotel Jazz has a wonderful, decked
roof terrace with spectacular views of Montjuic and a good-sized,
climate controlled pool.
Hotel Jazz Location
 |
| Placa Universitat
near the Hotel Jazz |
You can't really fault the location of Hotel Jazz. It is right
in between Placa Universitat and Placa Catalunya, both of which
have metro stations . La Rambla, with all its street performers
and attractions such as the Liceu theatre is a 5 minute walk, and
from there you can head into the Raval to experience old Barcelona
and museums such as the MACBA which is located a few streets behind
Calle Pelai. Or you can go the other way into the Barrio Gotic and
wander through the winding streets in the shadow of the Cathedral.
When staying at Hotel Jazz you have most that the city has to offer
at your finger tips. Calle Pelai on which the Hotel is situated
is very good for shopping and has the highest concentration of shoe
shops in the city which should please all the ladies. For a cash
point turn either right or left and there is one within 5 minutes.
There is even a cinema right opposite, but all films have been dubbed
into Spanish. If you are an admirer of Gaudi´s work then two
of his best-known buildings, La Pedrera and Casa Batlló are a 15
minute walk away on Passeig de Gracia, which also is home to most
of the designer shops.

In a Nutshell
The best feature of this hotel, apart from the roof terrace, and
its location, is the way that Hotel Jazz is modern and stylish but
not pretentious like some other contemporary-style hotels. This
is what makes Hotel Jazz special, you won't find any posers in the
lobby and people won't check what you're wearing so it feels like
you've stumbled across a design gem which hasn't been spoiled by
the usual fashion conscious crowd. The hotel is simple but comfortable,
it provides everything you need and doesn't shout about it.
