UDON Barcelona
Noodle Bar Review
Location
After visiting
the Picasso museum recently my brother and I decided to stop off
at Barcelona’s first noodle Bar the UDON for a light lunch.
Based only five
minutes walk from the Picasso Museum at the junction of Calle Montcada
and Princesa the UDON offers a stylish, light and refreshing atmosphere
in which to enjoy a good selection of Japanese noodle dishes.
UDON Barcelona
Interior
The UDON interior
has been designed using the principles of Feng Shui which adds to
the authenticity of the restaurant.
Service
Although busy
when we arrived, we were quickly shown to our table and presented
with the menu. The service during dining was attentive which is
a refreshing change from the rather indifferent service that we
are accustomed to here in Barcelona.
UDON - Food
We
decided to keep it simple and opted for a single main course noodle
dish each. I opted for Tofu Soba - a traditional Japanese noodle
dish consisted of soft tofu, thin buckwheat noodles, nori green
seaweed and Japanese onion. Whilst Bro decided to have Beef Ramen
with Chinese-styled noodles, marinated veal, lime and coriander
and green beans.
I opted for
mineral water to keep it simple while Bro decided on a glass of
red wine (presumably to complicate things).
I must say that
the noodle dishes were delicious and the spotless clean-cut atmosphere
really added to the experience.
Price
Once again top
marks to the UDON. Our main course noodle dishes were 9.95 Euros
each plus drinks – water at 1.75 Euros and a glass of red
wine 2.55 making a total of 24.20 Euros for the entire meal for
both of us.
Summary
One of the house
rules is no-smoking which we were pleased about. The Spanish are
still very fond of smoking so it was a refreshing change to be able
to enjoy our food without suffering from a smoky environment.
If you are a
fan of noodles, like I am, then I can highly recommended the UDON
as a first class noodle Bar / restaurant in Barcelona.
