Mosaiccos is an art studio that provides workshops on how to create mosaics with the style and techniques of Antonio Gaudí. The studio offers mosaic art classes and lessons for children and adult tourist visitors.

What motivated the founders of your organization to start this business?

As the founder of this business I felt motivated to create an authentic experience for visitors who are inspired by the art of Antonio Gaudí. I offer them an opportunity to learn the Mosaic Technique “El Trencadis” , and create their own memorabilia/souvenir from Barcelona. And also appreciate the work involved in creating his famous masterworks. The other motivation was to offer activities for families and groups which was difficult to find especially for children. This inspired me to set up a fun and creative experience for the whole family (parents and children older than 3 years) which they can enjoy together.

As the founder of the business, prior to starting it, I have been an artist for 30 years, specializing in mosaic and sculpture art mainly as a hobby. I also have 20 years of experience working in multinational companies, organizing events, meetings and marketing fairs. I had the opportunity to combine both sets of skills and start this business.

Services offered

Shop:
On offer to purchase are handmade (in Barcelona) mosaic products inspired in the mosaic technique of Gaudí. These can range from small souvenir objects such as magnets, photo frames, mirrors up to two-meters high, 3-dimensional sculptures.

Materials such as ceramics, tiffany glass, tools, adhesives, mortar and base products can be purchased separately for customers.

Workshop:
a. On location courses:
Courses in Mosaiccos: “Experience Gaudí” and Mosaic classes

For families, individuals, children, adults, students
For groups, such as schools and companies (Teambuilding Events).

All materials, tuition and grouting of final products are included in the price.

b. Off location courses:

“La Torre Bellesguard” (Masterwork of Gaudí):
The combination of a guided tour by Torre Bellesguard and a two-hour- Mosaic-Trencadis Workshop in the same location for all kind of groups, schools and companies (max. 140 pax).

“La Colonia Güell” (Masterwork of Gaudí):
The combination of a guided tour by La Colonia Güell and a two-hour- Mosaic-Trencadis Workshop in the same location for all kind of groups, schools and companies (max.100 pax).
- Workshops are also possible to set up in the customer´s preferred location (Hotels, Company meeting rooms etc.)
- All materials, tuition and grouting of final products are included in the price.

c. Events
i. Team building Events: In this kind of event, the group is encouraged to work together to create one main piece of artwork.

Tailor-made Events: Specific themes/designs are catered for e.g. boxes, photo frame, coaster.

Reservations
All reservations are made through email or phone.

Mosaiccos workshops are applicable to all types of customers; adults, families with children, school groups, tourist groups and companies.

How long does the service / course last?
The duration of our shortest course is the “Experience Gaudí” and lasts between 1.5 - 2.0 hours.

What will a visitor get out of visiting / attending Mosaiccos?
The customer is taught how to create a souvenir in Mosaic Trencadis Gaudí style from scratch to take away with them.

This family has created their own souvenir mosaic art that they can bring home.

Do your visitors require any special set of skills in order to attend your courses?
No special set of skills are required.

Access For People With A Disability
For people with a disability, they have access into the shop / workshop. They are able to move around the workshop easily with no restrictions. However, there are no specific toilet facilities for people with a disability.

What makes Mosaiccos unique?
Mosaiccos offers high quality materials as well as workshops.

Customers can also experience creating a souvenir piece themselves within two hours. This idea was founded at Mosaiccos.

As the founder of Mosaiccos, it is important to note that I hold the official Mosaic Art Diploma from the Generalitat of Catalonia (“ Mestra Artesana divulgatiu” del “Consorci de Comerc, Artesania y Moda” de la Generalitat de Cataluña”).

Languages in which the work shops are given

Can you offer your service with people speaking different languages on the same course?
Yes, this is possible and has often been the case. Languages include English, German and Spanish and Catalan.

What tips can you give that would be useful for a
customer or client of yours to know about Mosaiccos?
The customer should take into account that the artwork produced by the end of the workshop will have to be grouted by staff. Usually, the artwork is left in the workshop and picked up later on in the afternoon or the next morning if the workshop had taken place in the afternoon.
