Salou is a tourist resort to the South of Barcelona. It is a short distance (10 kilometres) from the town of Tarragona. Despite its small size it offers a direct coach from Barcelona Airport - probably due to its popularity with tourists. These instructions are for travelling from Barcelona Airport to Salou. Transfer to Salou from Barcelona Airport by Train
There are no direct trains from Barcelona Airport to Salou. Therefore, it is necessary to take a train into the centre of Barcelona to head out towards the south of Catalunya.

Take the Barcelona Airport Train - The R2 Nord to Estació Sants. If you are arriving into Terminal 1 (T1) you will not be able to walk straight to the train station, as it is 4km away. You will need to take a shuttle bus from outside the terminal.
At Estació Sants you will need to change. There are an abundance of trains that run from Estació Sants to Salou - some of these are regional and some of these are national. The trains vary in journey time - some stopping at many stations and some direct.

When looking at the various train options you will note that some are more expensive than others. The regional train tickets will work out cheaper than those that are long distance and international. Look out for the train that travels to PortAventura and on to Cambrils for a cheaper option.
Coach
There is normally a coach operated by the company Plana that goes from Barcelona Airport to Salou. The coach only has a stop at Terminal 1 at Barcelona Airport. If you are arriving at T2 take the free shuttle bus to T1. The Plana bus stop at Terminal 1 is located on the ground floor between platforms 7 and 11.
The bus timetable varies considerably throughout the year. We recommend you check the Plana official website to check for timetable and availability.
Empresa Plana Website. The website is not particularly simple to use. from the home page click on 'Bus Timetable'. From here you will be brought to a page with a 'Route Search' - key in 'Salou' here. You will be given a large list of route options to choose from - choose the first route option from 'Aeroport de Barcelona' - the timetable will appear as a PDF document so you will need the free Adobe Acrobat reader to view this document which you can obtain free online at www.adobe.com.

You can take the Aerobus - The Barcelona Airport Express Bus which has a stop at Plaça España. From Plaça España you can take the green line of the Metro two stops to Estació Sants. From Estació Sants you can take the train to Salou (see above for more details).

The distance from Barcelona Airport to Salou is approximately 100 km. This will take about 1 hour and 20 minutes in a taxi.

Salou is a popular summer destination. If you are planning to head there straight from the airport you are most likely to want to catch the direct coach. During the summer months this will probably get booked up quickly, so whilst you are making your holiday arrangements it will help to book your place on this bus. If you would prefer to spend some time in Barcelona city centre before heading to Salou, the trains are regular and travel from various Barcelona Stations (including Passeig de Gràcia and Estació França).
