The Castell de Montjuïc (Castle of Montjuic) is a historical building that was built as a military camp in 1640. The structure was constructed at the top of Montjuïc hill. Castell de Montjuïc can be reached by the Funicular de Montjuïc and the Montjuïc Cable Car.

You will enjoy the journey up the mountain as you take in unobstructed panoramic views of Barcelona city. First you will need to ride the Funicular de Montjuïc from Paral.lel metro. The funicular will then stop at Avenida Miramar. Then from there you will ride the Telefèric de Montjuïc cable car taking you up Montjuïc mountain and dropping you at Castell de Montjuïc.

But that's just the beginning of your journey to Castell de Montjuïc. Once you get on Montjuïc Castle, you will be greeted by the lush gardens surrounding the castle. This would be a pleasant place to walk around plus you have the view of Barcelona city. During summer there is an outdoor cinema called Sala Montjuïc which plays films on the wall of the castle. You can take a picknick and enjoy a cultural film with family and friends.

After exploring the castle grounds you can then choose to ride the cable car going down. Another option would be to take a 20 minute walk down the mountain. You can then visit other attractions nearby like the Fundacio Joan Miró on Avenida Miramar.

How to get to Castell de Montjuïc
Metro: Parallel (Green Line, L3) then change for the Funicular de Montjuïc. Once you have taken the Funicular de Montjuïc you will need to take the Montjuïc Cable car up to Castell de Montjuïc.
