There are a number of different Fira convention centres in Barcelona. Therefore it is important that you make sure that you have the correct name for the centre that you will be visiting.
Introduction To The Fira Barcelona Gran Via
The Fira Barcelona Gran Via Conference Centre is located outside of Barcelona's city centre, on the way towards Barcelona Airport. Is a huge building with an interesting modern design.
The building is not available via Metro, but can be reached via an FGC train that leaves from Plaça España.

How to get to Fira Barcelona Gran Via
Metro: España (Red Line, L1) and (Green Line, L3), followed by FGC train to Europa or Fira.

Take care over the road names. There has been some confusion over the correct road name for the Gran Via Fira centre and some visitors had made their way to the wrong road because it has a similar name. Do not mix up Avenida Joan Carles 1 (which is where the Gran Via Fira centre is located) and Gran Via Carles III, which is a completely different road in Barcelona.
How to travel to the conference centre from Barcelona Airport
There are 3 main ways to get to the conference centre from Barcelona Airport

1) Aerobus (Express bus service) and Metro
You catch the Aerobus outside of any of the Airports 2 terminals and get off at Plaça España. From Plaça España it is necessary to take the FGC train from the Metro station to Europa/Fira.
Travel time approximately 45 minutes.

2) RENFE Train and Metro
Catch the RENFE Train from the airport to Sants Estació and then change at Sants Estació for the metro (Subway) to España on the green line. You should then take the FGC train from España metro station to Fira/Europa.

3) Taxi
There is a large taxi rank service directly outside the airport. There is a minimum charge for taxis from the airport. Travel time approximately 15 minutes.

Hotels within a 10 - 15 minute travel time to the Gran Via Fira Centre
Due to the Fira Gran Via conference centre's location outside of the city centre, there are only a few hotels in the area of the conference centre itself.
However, you may wish to stay closer to Barcelona's city centre and take the train or a taxi to the conference centre. Hotels close to Plaça España are useful for this:
Plaça España is near the Gran Via Conference centre and offers good communications to the centre by train, bus and taxi. Plaça España also offers ready access to the rest of Barcelona if you have some free time to experience in the city.

Attractions Close to the Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona Conference Centre
The Fira Barcelona Gran Via Conference Centre is located outside of walking distance of Barcelona city centre. It is in an area that is dominated mostly by an industrial park and business offices. There is little of touristic interest in the area.
However, right next to the conference centre there in the Gran Via 2 mall. This large shopping centre holds over 200 shops and 20 restaurants. It also houses a 15 screen cinema.

Next to the centre you will also find a large Ikea home ware store.
For those who wish to spend some time visiting Barcelona's tourist attraction, these are a 10 minute train journey away. The FGC train mentioned above will take you to Plaça España. Here you will find Barcelona MNAC - home to an art museum and the famous Magic Fountain of Montjuïc show
