Passengers departing on a cruise from Barcelona or Tarragona may require a FIT-TO-CRUISE pre-boarding COVID test certificate. You can book this by clicking on the name of your cruise below and you will be taken to a page that will enable you to reserve your cruise COVID test that meets the specifications of your cruise ship. The testing centre undertaking the tests is an official government health centre certified to issue COVID test travel certificates: FIT-TO-CRUISE, FIT-TO-FLY and FIT-TO-TRAVEL. The test certificates are issued from an accredited testing lab with a CLIA number which meets the requirements for cruise ships leaving all ports in Spain. Unlike self-tests or video supervised self-test the testing centre undertakes tests that meet the EU Health and Security Commission (HSSC) regulations which are not just required for meeting requirements of all cruise ships leaving Spain but also enable you to meet the requirements for issuing a COVID document of recovery if you test positve.
Some cruise ships are now advocating the use of COVID self tests and video-supervised COVID self-tests. However, these COVID self-tests are not authorized by the EU HSSC as valid COVID tests and cannot be used to issue a Document of Recovery should you test positive. Self-tests could also invalidate the COVID coverage on your insurance policy because they are not undertaken by a licensed medical professional.
