This page has reviews of a popular Flamenco show in Barcelona's Spanish Village Poble Espanyol sent in by site visitors Phil Batchelor and Stefka Taneva. Flamenco is traditional for the South of Spain in the Andalusia region however Barcelona also has excellent flamenco Tablaos as they are known. Barcelona also home to one of the greatest flamenco dancers of all time Carmen Amaya, after which this Tablao is named. You will experience the passion and music of traditional Spanish flamenco music and dance, an experience that will give you goose bumps all over.
The Tablao de Carmen is closed until further notice.

It was my wife's birthday whilst we were away - an important one with a "0" on the end - so I was trying to arrange a special night out.
I booked a table for 4 at the Tablao de Carmen (on the Internet before I left home) and I can thoroughly recommend it to all your readers.
The Tablao takes place in a typical Andalusian building in the Poble Espanyol.
The all-in price includes entry to the Poble Espanyol - after 19:00., I believe - which gave us a chance for a quick look around this 'Model Spanish Village' of full size buildings from all the different parts of Spain without having to pay the entrance fee.
We were greeted with a nice glass of sherry as we arrived at 20:00. and then sat down to read the menu.
We had booked the 'standard' meal which is all you can do unless you're in a large group but this still gave us a choice of 6 options for each of the 4 courses - Soup, Salad, Main and Dessert.
We were pleasantly surprised with the meal as I had feared that it might not be very special but was, in fact, was very good! The meal was accompanied by either wine or in our case Sangria and the jug was refilled (without charge) as soon as it was empty. The cost (€82.00 per person) for entry to the Poble Espanyol, 4-course dinner with drinks and a spectacular Flamenco show seemed very reasonable to me.
The tables were cleared by 21:15 or so and we stayed in our seats to watch the Flamenco Show.
None of us were particularly into dancing but the colour, passion, intensity and drama of the whole thing was both exciting and moving.
The flamenco show lasted some 75-90 minutes and involved a guitarist, 3 singers and 6 or 7 dancers. It was, as I understand it, more serious and 'genuine' than the typical Costa Flamenco Night.
Our only disappointment was that we'd left the camcorder in the apartment as I had assumed that we would not be allowed to use it whereas this seemed to be perfectly acceptable.
The only slight flaw in the whole evening was our inability to get a taxi when we came out of the Spanish Village at about 23:00. However, the walk down the hill to Plaça España (where there were taxis aplenty) was not a problem as the night was warm and dry.
My wife and I recently holidayed in Barcelona with a couple of friends and stayed in an apartment that we found via your website.
The holiday was a tremendous success and I would like to thank you for all your help in arranging this.

Review: I visited Barcelona last November with my husband, daughter and family. I booked the Flamenco show online, but I was a bit sceptical, to be honest, as I read the forums about Flamenco shows in Barcelona, and Flamenco shows in general. Anyway, having said that I was still looking forward to the experience.
As advised from previous visitors, our group arrived an hour earlier at Poble Espanyol so we could enter the village for free, as well as having plenty of time to look around. At first I thought that would not be enough time, but believe me, it was sufficient. We even had time to sit at a coffee shop and enjoy delightful Spanish sweets and cup of hot coffee.
We arrived at the Tablao de Carmen at the designated time. We needed to queue for a few minutes at the entrance to pick up our tickets reservation, but we were welcomed by the staff who were friendly and warm. Then we were escorted to our designated table, which was quite central to the stage, and we were pleased with that.
Then the food started to arrive. We had the option for tapas and the show. In my opinion, this option is the best option as there was a lot of food, which we could not finish. In addition there is not much time to eat a full three course menu, and fully enjoy the Flamenco.
The food was really good. We also had enough wine, sangria and mineral water to accompany the meal. In a few words- the food was enjoyable!
Then the Flamenco started. My whole attention was grasped by the woman dancing with such passion and emotion, and the guitar players. I could not eat, my heart started beating faster. I could not breath, tears began to fill my eyes and roll down on my cheeks. This was such a strong emotion that I could not overcome, but to let the feelings fill my heart, and enjoy the performance entirely. And thankfully the lights in the restaurant were dim, so I did not need to hide my emotions, but to let them flow. Incredible, marvellous, splendid! This experience left me shaken, and excited for a while.
I just wanted to say: If you visit Barcelona, it will be a big waste if you miss this spectacle, exactly at this place. Since then, I am constantly and passionately recommending this place to my friends.
Order the option Tapas and show. there was food galore.
