If you are interested in coming to Barcelona to compete in the half marathon (known as the 'Mitja Marato de Barcelona'), this page will provide you with all of the information that you need. The Barcelona half marathon offers you the opportunity to run through the streets of the city. It is an event that runners from around the world come to the city to be involved in. Whether you are an experienced runner or this is your first ever half marathon, this is an event that you will enjoy and feel proud to have been involved in.

Although we always aim to give accurate information on dates and times of events they do sometimes change without us being given notice. We recommend you always confirm dates directly with the official organization that will be running the event.

Make sure you buy travel insurance that covers you against cancellation or change of date of your airline tickets. It has been known in the past for the Half Marathon date to change. This has left international tourists runners stuck with nonrefundable airline tickets.
How to register
It is possible to register for the Barcelona half marathon either on the internet or in person. It is important to note that you cannot register via telephone, fax or e-mail.
Online Registration

Registering for the Barcelona half marathon by internet:
You will have until a week before the event to register online.
You would not be able to register however if the race limit of 16,500 runners has been reached. Since this is a popular event it is a good idea to register as soon as you are certain you want to attend this event.
The registration form can be found on the Official Barcelona Half Marathon Website registration page.
The website is part of the Barcelona City Council website and it is available in Catalan, Castellano, English, French and Italian.
Registering for the Barcelona half marathon in person:
You will have until a week before the event to register in person - the registration period lasts for two weeks.
There are three addresses where it is possible to register in person:
- The Permanent Office: Agrupacio Atletica de Catalunya, Calle Venus 8, Barcelona.
- Atleta's Shop: Carretera de la Bordeta 7, Barcelona.
- Runnersworld Shop: Passeig de Gràcia 25, Barcelona.
Registering for the Barcelona half marathon if you are a wheelchair athlete:
If you wish to compete in the race as a wheelchair athlete you can register by sending an e-mail to the address given below. Once you have e-mailed the address to let them know that you wish to take part, they will let you know what information they require from you.

What to do once you have registered
RACE BAG:
Those registered can pick up their race bag, with the number and, given the case, the single-use Chip:

To pick up the number and timing chip it is necessary to present your registration receipt (whether you have registered in person or by internet) together with your DNI or Identity Card or equivalent (or a photocopy in the case of picking up the bag for another participant). The bag cannot be picked up on the same day as the race.

You will need a race chip to participate in the half marathon. You may already own a yellow chip. If you do not own one you will need to buy a single use one from the hospitality tent when you go to pick up your runners bag.
Race chip price: €3.00
CHIP: use of a chip is obligatory for all participants.
The chip can be either:
Only one use and not returnable: €3.00
Taxes included that will be included in the cost of the registration.
Yellow chip: the runner's own chip. During registration you would need to provide the numerical code on the form.

After the race, if you want to find out how you did, from 12:00 noon on the day of the race you can check the official website to see your ranking and your times. From 16:00 on the day of the race you can check for more specific details on your ranking within your category. If you are coming to Barcelona to compete in the Barcelona half marathon you should not find it too difficult to organise. Try to get your registration sorted out as soon as possible as places are limited. Once you are registered you can look forward to taking part in the competition.
