Q: I am planning to stay at the Kabul Hostel. Is the hostel just off Las Ramblas? How far Barcelona airport is from Las Ramblas and at what distance? Where exactly is the city centre of Barcelona?
A: Indeed, the Alberg Kabul Youth Hostel is located just off the Ramblas at Plaça Reial (the Royal Square).
You have three public transport options from Barcelona airport El Prat de Llobregat to the Kabul Hostel
A1 Aerobus (The express shuttle bus service from Barcelona airport to the city centre)
The Aerobus runs every 12 minutes from outside all three parts of Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 of Barcelona airport you would get off at the stop Plaça de Catalunya. The ride to Plaça de Catalunya will take 30-40 minutes, depending on the traffic. From Plaça de Catalunya you have a 5-10 minutes walk down Las Ramblas until arriving to Plaça Reial. Instead of walking you could catch the Metro: Liceu (Green Line, L3). This is the quickest and most direct option if you do not want to spend the money on a taxi.
You can also take the RENFE train from the airport, but you will need get off at Passeig de Gràcia and there catch the metro from Metro: Liceu (Green Line, L3). This option will take you about 40 minutes.
The third option is to take a taxi from outside the airport to Las Ramblas next to the hostel. This is the quickest, but not the cheapest solution.
