Q: Next week my wife and I arrive in Barcelona on a cruise. We want to go on a hop on hop off bus to see the main attractions of Barcelona before we leave. Can we catch the tour bus from the cruise terminal? How long does the tour take? Where are the stops for the tourist bus near the cruise terminals? Where can we find more information?
A: For this answer I will provide information regarding the Barcelona City Tour hop on hop off tourist bus service. This is a bright red bus service that has a carefully planned route for you to see Barcelona's main attractions. The advantage of this tourist bus is that you can "hop on" and "hop off" at any of the stops. This means you can make the tour as long or as short as you want. A new bus usually arrives every 15 minutes (in either direction) but sometimes it could take a little longer for a new bus to arrive if there is heavy traffic.

Operating hours from Plaça de Catalunya
09:00 - 19:00
09:00 - 20:00
If you do not wish to get off the bus the routes will take about 2 to 2.5 hours to complete. There are 2 routes and there change over points so you can cross over from one route to another.
The above schedule is starting from Plaça Catalunya (the city centre square) therefore allow an additional 15 minutes for the bus to reach the cruise port stops from Plaça de Catalunya.
You can however join the bus at any of the stops on the tour.
The bus has different routes and the route nearest the Cruise terminals is the West Route which is in orange. You can find a map of the route by following the link below.
To find the stop nearest the cruise terminal find the Stop 4 World trade centre and Stop 3 Estatua de Colon (Christopher Columbus monument) on the orange route.
All stops are clearly marked for the tourist bus however make sure you go to the correct stop because there are different tourist bus companies.
The bus follow a carefully planned route so that you can visit the main attractions in Barcelona in the shortest possible time. The bus also has commentary in 12 different languages.
The buses are also 100% adapted for disabled wheelchair users.
We have provided a booking link below if you wish to book your tickets in advance of your trip. You need to print off the booking voucher at home and then present it the driver. Please note the driver will not accept showing the voucher on your mobile phone. It needs to be a paper print out. It is a good idea to also bring along photo ID with your booking voucher to confirm the voucher is valid for you. When you hand over your voucher you will be given a map of the route plus a special ticket that will enable you to leave and enter the bus at any of the stops on the route.
