Q: We are 10 people group, and we are going to Port Olimpic from BCN airport El Prat. Your website shows we have to take train (R2 Nord Train from BCN airport) to Passeig de Gràcia train station and there take L4 metro (yellow line) as we have to get off on Vila Olimpica. We will be returning to BCN airport in the same way after 8 days. What kind of tickets should we buy in order to be able to use the RENFE train and metro on the same ticket so we can get the best price?
Important update: On 01 January 2020 the T10 ticket transport ticket was discontinued and replaced by the T-Casual ticket. Click here to learn more.
A: Each person will need to buy a T-Casual tickets which has 10 journeys per ticket, this will cover you for the entire return journey (both train and metro) and give you additional journeys on the metro during your stay. The T-Casual is valid until the end of January of the following year, so you have no problems with 8 days. You can take both the airport train RENFE train and then the metro provided the total journey time is less than 75 Minutes which it should be for this journey. However you cannot take the Metro leaving from the Airport directly there is a different ticket for that. You can only use the T-Casual on the metro once you are in the city centre.
All you have to do is put the T-Casual ticket through the ticket validation machine at the entrance to the train station at Barcelona airport and then the same again when you want to use the metro at Passeig de Gràcia station. The T-Casual is not a multi-person ticket.
A better alternative to the T-Casual might be the Hola Barcelona Travel Card that offers unlimited travel on Barcelona public transport.
