The hotel staff are warm and helpful in answering my questions. The hotel itself has a more local and classically Spanish feel than other hotels located in the airport area - this is achieved through homely bedrooms, with floral bedding, bright colours and antique-style furniture. The communal areas such as the lobby and bar have a twenties feel to them with crystal chandeliers, marble flooring and ornate lampshades.
We met with the hotel's Sales Executive, Carlos Romero, for a tour of the hotel. He also answered some of our questions:
- Do you have a pool?
Yes, there is a pool inside the hotel, on the sixth floor. It is available to all customers at no extra cost. Its dimensions are 5 metres by 6 metres and it is 1 metre deep. It is heated and open all year round. It is covered by a glass roof, but this roof opens up in the summer, creating an open - air pool.
Next to the pool there is also a sauna and a changing room area.
- What facilities do you have at the hotel for tenants wishing to keep fit?
Yes, we do a have a small gym. Equipment on offer includes a running machine, a cycling machine and weights.
- Hotel restaurant
We have two eating areas in the hotel. One is a larger area where buffet breakfast is served. Both hot and cold food is available. Hotel customers can pay extra when booking to include a breakfast option.
We also have a separate restaurant with an a la carte menu, serving lunch and dinner. It serves traditionally Spanish food.
- Hotel Bar
We have a small bar in the lobby area of the restaurant.
- Terraces for the rooms?
No, there is no hotel terrace area.
On the same floor as the 3 meeting rooms, there is a reception area, where teas and coffees can be served as part of meeting sessions.
There is Wi-Fi available at no extra cost throughout the hotel. There are also two computers available for use in the lobby area of the hotel. These are coin - operated.
There are 2 rooms in the hotel that have been adapted for wheelchair use. The door to the room has not been widened, however the internal doors are widened. There are rails next to both the toilet and the shower. There are also lifts to all floors.
Unfortunately, the swimming pool does not have a special lifting chair.
The hotel contains a total of 130 rooms over 6 floors. All rooms are either double or twin and are not categorised differently. The hotel is positioned in such a way that planes do not fly overhead the hotel. The windows are also double - glazed. There is, therefore, no problem with noise pollution in the rooms.
All rooms provide exterior windows. Some have views of the mountains. If customers would like one of these rooms they should request it when booking.
All rooms contain a television, air-conditioning, a safe, a telephone, an iron and ironing board and a mini-bar containing free soft drinks.
- Are pets allowed in the hotel?
No, we do not allow pets in the hotel.
- Does the hotel offer a short - stay option?
Yes, as the hotel is located close to Barcelona airport there are often people who are interested in the short stay options who are awaiting connecting flights etc. We do offer this option at a reduced rate. However, it is subject to availability.
- What type of groups primarily does the hotel caters for specifically? e.g. business people, families, couples?
The hotel caters well for business people. We have a lot of local businesses in the area and are also located near to the airport. We therefore cater largely for those on business trips or those in need of a place to stay due to a stopover flight.
The advanced booking transfers below are independent of the the public transport system. This means if there is a public transport strike these services will continue to operate as normal and you will not be affected by the strike action.
Minibus shared transfer (advanced reservation required)
A shared minibus transfer option is cheaper than the private transfer. You would need to make your way to designated meeting point at the airport.
Private transfer (advanced reservation required)
With a private transfer service the driver will be waiting for you at your arrivals gate. He will have a board or a sign with your name on it so that you can easily identify him. The driver will help you with your bags to the vehicle and then drive you to your hotel.
Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 10 minutes and cost around €20.00 depending on traffic and luggage. This is due to the fact that taxis from the airport cost a €20.00 minimum.
Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to El Prat de Llobregat in about 5 minutes. A single ticket costs €4.10 . The train station is a ten minute walk from the hotel. You can take a taxi from the train station if you have lots of luggage. This will take about 5 minutes and cost about €5.00.
