Review Gracia Garden Hotel Barcelona

Page Content

Gracia Garden Hotel' s name is a little confusing. Despite its suggested delusions of grandeur, it is a pensión rather than a hotel. The pensión itself has less airs and graces. It is a simple space with inviting staff and a bright interior, ensuring that it is a pleasure to visit. The hotel's location, on Passeig de Gràcia, means that it is surrounded by accommodation that is in a different league. This makes it an appealing option for those wishing to stay in an up-market part of town, whilst paying prices that are affordable.

Gracia Garden 's lobby area is long and thin. The front desk is a small wooden box, adjacent to the elevators. Behind the front desk, there is a separate space housing a small and inviting bar area, where breakfast is served. The space is brightened by patio doors at the back, leading to a small terrace that is open for use in the summer months. This pensión achieves a personal touch, as it contains only 12 rooms in total.

Hotel Location and Facilities

The hotel is based in the area of Gràcia. This area contains many terraces to sit and enjoy coffees or lunch. It also offers smaller and more independent shops, such as toyshops, clothes shops and chocolate shops. For a week during the month of August the barrio comes alive with a weeklong street festival. This involves each street competing to win the prize for best street decorations. Every street team makes imaginative decorations - everything from ice scenes to Mexican wrestling.

One of the area's most popular restaurants is called Non Solo Pizza, on Calle Enric Granados. It offers high-quality Italian cuisine, in a quiet and cosy setting. As its name suggests, it offers far more than just pizzas. There is also a street containing many popular bars and restaurants. It is called Calle Francisco Giner. At number 24 you can find the small bar, Gusto. This interesting space is covered, from walls to ceiling with an elaborate and intricate wallpaper of cream and white. At weekends, a non-descript black door hides a bustling bar that is popular with the locals.

The hotel is a 15 minute walk to the Ramblas. The walk, down Passeig de Gràcia and across the Plaça de Catalunya, is an enjoyable one. Any general amenities that have not become available are sure to be found on the Ramblas. These include supermarkets, internet cafés, bureaux de change and banks.
