Gran Ronda Hotel Barcelona is located a 2 minute walk from Plaza Universitat. This sets it at the heart of Barcelona's tourist district. It is a simple 3 star hotel that will appeal to people visiting the city for an action-packed holiday of sightseeing. There are only basic amenities, so there are few tempting customers who spend too much time within the confines of their hotel. However, the accommodation is reliably modern clean and comfortable.

The hotel's exterior is standard - a glass door and modern signage welcome guests into a long and thin lobby area. The front desk sits to the right of the space, and there is no seating.

The hotel is located less than 1 minutes walk from Plaza Universitat. This square is the home of some of Barcelona's oldest university buildings. It also leads to the area of El Raval. This area is part of Barcelona's old town, an area that is renowned for its narrow streets and old buildings. El Raval is slowly becoming the hippest part of the old town. It houses many small and independent shop, bars and art galleries. It is also the home of the MACBA (modern art museum) and CCCB (centre of contemporary culture)

The hotel is located a 5 minute walk from Plaça de Catalunya. This square sits at the top of the Ramblas - Barcelona's most famous street. Many tourists to Barcelona see the Ramblas as its focal point - the heart of the city. It is also a convenient place to find amenities such as internet cafés, bureaux de change, supermarkets and pharmacies. Plaça de Catalunya itself is a large square. It houses El Corte Inglés - a well-known Spanish department store. El Corte Inglés is a shop offering everything from clothes to food and electrical appliances.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Passeig de Gràcia. This street is well known for being a popular shopping street and offers large branches of stores such as Zara and Mango. It is also the home of some of Gaudí's most famous buildings. Casa Batlló is a colourful building with a mosaic roof in the style of a dragon's tail. La Pedrera is a building that has been influenced by the sea. The paving stones along the street of Passeig de Gràcia are embossed with an abstract pattern. This is said to be taken from one of the rooms inside La Pedrera and comprises patterns influenced by sea creatures.

If you head away from the Rambla from the hotel you will enter the area of Sant Antoni. A ten minute walk from the hotel is the Mercat de Sant Antoni. This roofed market sells food. Also, on Sundays, around the edges of the market there is a market fro collectors, selling books, comics and stamps.


How to travel from the airport to the hotel


Public transport transfer options

Via Taxi: A taxi from the airport should take about 25 minutes.

Taxi Fare: €30.00 - €35.00


Via Train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour and will take you to Passeig de Gràcia in 25 minutes. You can either use the T-Casual transport ticket from the airport (a ticket for 10 separate journeys on Barcelona public transport system) or you can buy a single fare ticket. From here take the metro to Universitat on the Purple Line, from the metro station the hotel is a 2 minute walk. Alternatively, if you have a lot of luggage a taxi would take 5 minutes.

Via Bus: Take the 'Aerobus' to Plaça de Catalunya from directly outside the airport. The Aerobus generally runs every 10 - 15 minutes and the journey time is 30 minutes. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Plaça de Catalunya. Alternatively, take the metro from Catalunya to Universitat on the Red Line, from here the hotel is a 2 minute walk.
