Page Content
Hotel Barcelona Aeropuerto is a hotel existing to fulfil very specific requirements. It sits a five-minute car journey from Barcelona International Airport. It is used, therefore, first and foremost by business people or people awaiting connecting flights. Those coming to Barcelona for tourist attractions are likely to require a hotel closer to the city centre.
The hotel is located at the centre of a large business park and is surrounded by large office buildings. From the exterior, it is plain - opting for a modernist design that is in keeping with its surroundings. The lobby area is large and bright and has a ceiling reaching to the very top of the building, at the fourth floor. The hotel uses a mezzanine effect, with the doors of the rooms looking down into the lobby area. The lobby itself provides spaced out mustard yellow couches and low tables that are enjoyable to relax in, due to the brightness of the space.
The hotel houses a total of 7 meeting rooms plus a business centre. This makes it a viable option for international businesses in need of conference spaces in a convenient location. It is also a useful option for travelling families, with rooms available for up to 4 people.
Hotel Facilities
Hotel Barcelona Aeropuerto does not have a pool. However, it does have a small gym with weights, a running machine, a step machine and a cycling machine. The gym is open 24 hours and can be accessed using the hotel's room keys.
The hotel offers two eating spaces. Buffet breakfast is served in a special area. In this area, a lunch menu is also available, and a buffet dinner service is on offer. The restaurant's lobby also includes a bar serving drinks and snacks. This area offers foods such as sandwiches, burgers, salads and tapas. Due to the hotel's situation at the centre of a business park, there is little else on offer by way of eating opportunities, so guests will be reliant on what the hotel has to offer.
The hotel offers a free shuttle bus service to and from the airport. This is detailed below in 'How to Travel from the Airport to the Hotel'.
No pets are allowed in the hotel.
Business Facilities
The hotel has 7 meeting rooms of varying sizes. These rooms have panelled walls, allowing for their sizes to be changed, suiting groups of different capacities. All meeting rooms are located on the ground floor of the hotel
There is also Wi-Fi available in the lobby area of the hotel, but this must be paid for. There is a small business centre with 2 computers offering internet access.
Facilities for People with a disability
There are 3 rooms that have been adapted for wheelchair use. Each of these rooms had widened doors and a special bath. There are lifts to all floors.
Rooms
There are a total of 205 rooms in the hotel across 4 floors. Rooms on offer are Standard (in which an extra bed can be added if necessary), Premium, Fitness (a premium room with a fitness machine), Junior Suite and Family. The Standard rooms are either Double or twin beds. The Family room includes a Double bed and a bunk-bed, so it not suitable for children over the age of approximately 12 years.
The windows are double-glazed and are very effective in insulating the room against noise from aeroplanes and the motorway outside. All rooms are exterior, so the windows are very important. There are no terraces or balconies available.
Due to the hotel's location close to the airport, check-in and check-out times are flexible.
Room service is available to the rooms 24 hours.
Hotel Location and Facilities
Hotel Barcelona Aeropuerto is located a five-minute car journey from Barcelona Airport. Those hoping to visit Barcelona city centre will need to take the airport train to Estació Sants, which takes around 25 minutes. Alternatively, a taxi journey will cost approximately €21.00. For this reason, most people staying at the hotel are unlikely to venture into Barcelona city centre.
The nearest town to the hotel is El Prat de Llobregat, a ten-minute taxi journey away. This is where general amenities such as banks, pharmacies, internet cafés and supermarkets can be found.
The hotel is surrounded almost completely by office buildings, so there is very little to do in the hotel's close vicinity.

In a nutshell
Hotel Barcelona Aeropuerto is a well-designed, bright and modern building with a purpose. The atmosphere and style of the hotel is one of business, with little to do for those seeking recreation. It is a functional and convenient choice for those with business needs but will not suit those on holiday in Barcelona.
