Escriba |
Firstly, it is essential to mention that Soho Hotel is located directly opposite one of Barcelona's most delicious patisseries - Escriba. Its beautiful tiled exterior hides a treasure trove for cake lovers. Glass cabinets encase intricate cakes that are like works of art. There is also a small café for those who can't wait until they get home to eat their purchases. And, a workshop style area where bespoke cakes are made is available for customers to watch the company's original and playful cakes being made.
Soho Hotel is located on the main road, Gran Via. This road links Plaza de la Universitat to Plaça España. Plaça España is home to the Fira de Barcelona. This is one of Barcelona's largest conference and convention centres. On regular occasions, it holds high-profile international conferences. Soho Hotel is particularly well placed for those wishing to attend events at the Fira de Barcelona. It is a ten-minute walk, straight down Gran Via Cortes Catalanes, to the centre.
Those who wish to come to Barcelona in search of touristic action will also find Soho Hotel well placed. The Plaza de la Universitat, a ten-minute walk from the hotel, leads to two interesting areas - Plaça de Catalunya (at the top of the Ramblas) and Raval. The Ramblas is one of Barcelona's most famous locations and is an interesting place to people watch, take in the street entertainers and pick up some souvenirs. Those looking for a less touristy Spanish experience can head to Raval. This area is known for its interesting bars, independent shops and eclectic restaurants. Meson David, on Calle Carretes, is known for its atmosphere and its affordable local cuisine.
Those in search of a shopping trip will be within 15 minutes walk of Passeig de Gràcia. This is the home of many of the designer shops. It is also where fans of design can find Vinçon - a large department store for all things design, where affordable purchases can be made.
