Barcelona Sants station (sometimes called 'Sants Estació' or 'Estació Sants') has a grand total of seven information desks - each dealing with different queries and offering specific advice. For this reason it is not always the easiest place to navigate your way around.

This page covers each different help desk at Barcelona Sants station. I will explain the location and opening times of each desk. Plus, you will find a description of what specific advice and information each different desk offers.
A good starting point in understanding rail travel in Barcelona is understanding the different services that run. There are three different types of trains: Cercanias, Media Distancia and Larga Distancia. Cercanias are the local trains than run throughout Barcelona and its local area. Media Distancia are the trains that cover the whole of Catalunya. Larga Distancia are the trains that cover the whole of Spain and Europe. The services that you require will vary depending on which of these train types you are travelling in.
The 'Brief Questions' Information Desk at Barcelona Sants Station
Location for the 'Brief Questions' Desk
The Brief Questions desk is a small green and white desk at the centre of the station. If you enter the building through the main entrance you will see the desk directly in front of you, at the centre of the ticket booths.
Opening times for the 'Brief Questions' Desk
Every day: Monday - Friday: 04:30 - 00:30
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday: 05:00 - 00:30
This is an information point for questions relating to 'Media Distancia' train journeys (see the above 'TIP' for what this means). You can ask simple questions relating to train times, train lines and platforms. It is a useful place to pick up copy of train timetables for all of the Media Distancia trains. If you need information on the 'Cercanias' trains head to the 'Atencio al Cliente - Cercanias' stand (see below). If you need to ask a question about long distance trains, head to the Rail Information Desks (see below).
Luggage transfer and storage services at Barcelona Sants Rail Station
Drop off your luggage with a baggage management service operating out of Barcelona Sants and have your luggage delivered to any location you want, e.g. your hotel, Barcelona airport or Barcelona cruise port.

Location of the Metro (TMB) Information Desk
This is a red and white desk. It sits at the far right of the station. It is located next to the Metro entrances on the right hand wall of the building. It sits behind the large Metro map on the wall of the building.

Information on offer at the Metro (TMB) Information Desk
This desk is dedicated purely to information relating to the Metro - you will not be able to ask any questions related to the rail services here. The desk can answer any questions that you have about the various Metro lines - the easiest way to get to your required Metro stop, ticket prices and the various tickets that are on offer.

Customer service (Atencio al Cliente) Information Desk

Location of Customer service (Atencio al Cliente)
The customer service desk is located within its own room in the station. It is located at the centre of the station - opposite the Brief Questions desk (see above). On entering the station's main entrance, walk straight ahead and you will find the office on the right at the station's half way point, behind the ticket booths. Look for an area marked 'Atencio al Cliente'.

Information on offer at Customer service (Atencio al Cliente)
This is the customer service desk for the whole station. This is where you can lodge complaints, report incidences or make suggestions in relation to any aspects of the trains or railway station. However, if you have issues or queries in relation to the high speed trains (AVE), they have their own separate customer service desk called Centro de Servicio (see below).
Cercanias Information Desk at Barcelona Sants Station
Location of Cercanias Information Desk
This desk is the same size as the 'Brief questions' desk (see above). However, it is red and white and has a sign that reads 'Atencio al Cliente'. It is located towards the left of the station building, next to the 'Media Distancia' ticket booths. It sits in front of the McDonald's restaurant.

Information on offer at Cercanias Information Desk
Despite the fact that this desk has the same name as the station's large customer service desk, it serves a different purpose. It is for short queries in relation to Cercanias trains - the trains that operate in and around Barcelona. For short queries in relation to the Media Distancia and Larga Distancia trains, it is necessary to go to the 'Brief Questions' stand.

Location of Rail Information Desk
There are a total of 5 windows dealing with general information in relation to the trains. They are booth numbers 22 - 26, amongst the windows for ticket purchase. They have a sign above them in red LEDs reading 'Informacion'. They are located at the centre of the train station, next to the ticket booths for 'Larga Distancia Salida Hoy' (long distance, departing today).

Information on offer at Rail Information Desk
These desks are for questions to do with to any rail-related queries. If you have a quick question you can ask at either the 'Brief Questions' or the Cercanias Information Desk (see above). However, if you have a slightly more complicated question in relation to your travel arrangements or also the station itself, you can join the queue at these windows.

Location of RENFE Centro de Servicio Information Desk
This desk also has its own office area. It is located within a modern looking glass structure with sliding doors. The glass structure has 'Centro de Servicio' written down it in large black letters. It is located at the centre of Estació Sants. It is necessary to walk behind the ticket booths for 'Venta Anticipada Larga Distancia' (long term purchase long distance) and you will find the office next to the tourist information booth. It sits to the right of the McDonald's.

Information on offer at RENFE Centro de Servicio Information Desk
This desk works in the same way as the 'Atencio al Cliente' Customer Service Desk (see above) but is solely for customers using the high speed trains called AVE. If you have a ticket booked for one of these trains, or would like to book a ticket for one of these trains, this is the place to go. They will deal with complaints, queries, suggestions and reports of incidents in relation to the AVE trains.

Staff at Barcelona Sants station are helpful. The key is to find the right person to deal with your specific question. If all else, fails and you cannot figure out where you need to go to get your question answered, head to the Customer Services ('Atencio al Cliente') office and they will point you in the right direction.
