Ticket options for tickets at Estació Passeig de Gràcia Station

There are no long distance train options from Passeig de Gràcia train station. This means that you will only be catching a train from this station if you are travelling to other parts of Barcelona or Catalunya.

The different train options are as follows:

Cercanias/Rodalies tickets:
Cercanias is the local branch of RENFE (Spain's rail company). Cercanias tickets are for Rodalies train journeys in Barcelona and in the areas surrounding Barcelona. They are the local trains. If you see a sign for Cercanias or Rodalies trains, that means the same thing.

Media Distancia tickets:
Media Distancia tickets are those that cover trains travelling throughout the region of Catalunya.

Telephone ticket purchases

Tel (RENFE ticket line): +34 91 232 0320

You can only buy Media Distancia tickets on the telephone - do not try to buy Cercanias/Rodalies tickets over the phone. If you book your tickets over the telephone, you can print the tickets from the machines that are dotted around the main room of the station building (they are grey and purple RENFE machines - there are three in total). Alternatively, you can print them off at home once you receive an e-mail confirming your booking.

Internet ticket purchases

Web: Official RENFE Website

As with telephone ticket purchases, you can only buy tickets online for Media Distancia trains. You can use your debit or credit card to buy the tickets. Once you have bought the tickets you will need to print out your ticket and bring it with you when boarding the train.

Cercanias/Rodalies Ticket Machines

It is possible to buy tickets for the local Cercanias and Media Distancia trains from ticket machines. There are four Cercanias ticket machines in the Passeig de Gràcia train station building -you cannot miss them as they are all located together in a cluster at the centre of the train station building. The machines are red and grey and accept cash, credit or debit cards.

Media Distancia Ticket Machines

The Media Distancia ticket machines sit around the edge of the Cercanias ticket machines. There are a total of three Media Distancia ticket machines. The ticket machines are mostly grey with a touch of purple. They will accept cash, credit or debit cards.

Ticket booths

There are a total of nine ticket booths at Passeig de Gràcia train station. Due to the fact that only Cercanias and Media Distancia trains leave from the station, all booths offer ticket purchase for all of the train journeys available from the station. This makes things a lot simpler, rather than having to figure out which queue you need to join depending on what train journey you are taking.

You cannot buy Cercanias or Media Distancia advance tickets at the station, you can only buy them on the day you are travelling. If there are long queues at the ticket booths you can use one of the ticket machines (see above).

Opening Times of Cercanias and Media Distancia booths:
Every day: 05:00 - 00:00 Midnight

Tip It is worth noting that there is no customer information desk at Passeig de Gràcia station (for more information on the facilities and services at the station, see our page on facilities at Passeig de Gràcia station). Therefore, if you have a question about what trains run from the station, what times the trains are running or what platform they leave from, you can ask at the ticket booths. The staff at the booths are helpful in answering any train-related questions.

Buying tickets for Spanish trains can often prove to be slightly confusing. But if you use the information and advice provided on the above page, you should not have too many difficulties. For all of the trains leaving Passeig de Gràcia station, you can buy tickets on the day of travel at the station. This means that, for trains leaving from this station, it is not really necessary to buy your tickets in advance. Once you are at the station, have a go at using the ticket machines (this is normally quicker than joining queues for the ticket booths) and if you are having any difficulties simply ask the staff at the ticket booths for help.
